In sports there are a number of factors that can significantly have an effect and influence player’s performance. These include poor form, personal problems, and fitness issues, which can all act as a barrier thus creating limiting beliefs in the players’ sporting performance. Media coverage illustrates this negative impact on player’s performance, for example, Wayne Rooney’s performance during the England World Cup – the player clearly had a detrimental mindset, which reflected upon his performance.

A personal fitness trainer cannot only increase ones fitness levels, but technical skills can also be taught during sessions. However, it is important to note that the mental focus of the player should also be considered, this focus, often being ignored in the field of personal fitness training. At Esporte, we not only recognise this focus, we implement it.

When athletes are performing at their absolute peak performance, physically and mentally, this is known as being in the zone. Imagine asking someone ‘how he or she accomplished a particular sport task?’ When athletes are at their peak performance, often they will tell you ‘it just happens’. But what’s really happening is everything that has got the athlete up to this peak level of performance has been done in an unconscious state, resulting in performance on auto pilot responses, and so the athlete is not aware consciously of what their mind is doing to allow their body to perform at high levels.

In modern day sports games the level of performance is very high. An Esporte trained athlete who has the ability to consciously be aware of his/her state of mind, will have the skill set to optimize and mentally condition oneself to perform to the best of their ability. This can mean the difference between winning and losing. NLP trained athletes obtain a high competitive edge.

Martial arts and fighters do all the hard work in training; the fight is already either won or lost in their training schedule, therefore when it comes to the competition, they have already visualised in their mind the outcome – that they will win. With the power of visualizing we have and can use NLP anchoring to create states of power and speed when the fighter needs it, which would give them the advantage over anyone who hasn’t grasped the need to be mentally focused.

By using Esporte’s NLP techniques, we can teach you how to get in the zone to reach peak performance and how you can be consciously aware of your state change. In addition to this we teach you how to motivate, train harder, and push yourself to that next level of performance, eradicating and learning from mistakes, rather than letting them hold you back. Like most of our clients we work with, NLP can make the difference in your game and allow you to play competitive sports at a whole new level.
